With almond extract combined with Nutella, these cookies are the right amount of sweet and salty, soft and chewy, and are just delicious!
For the past month or so when I've talked to my mom, she has regularly asked me if I've made any Christmas cookies yet. Because we've started to freeze our cookie dough in ready to bake servings, I don't make cookies as much as I used to, so my answer until this past week has been no. But this recipe has been on my list of recipes I've wanted to make for months and this just seemed like the right time to make them.
These cookies turned out so delicious. I really loved the addition of the almond extract combined with the Nutella. The cookies may not look all that amazing, but they are. A few years ago I went through a Nutella phase. I thought it was so yummy. I still do, but I really like Nutella combined with the other flavors. These cookies are the right amount of sweet, with a slight salty hint. The edges are crisp, with soft, chewy centers. They are a great addition to your holiday baking!

1 cup unsalted butter, at room temp
1/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup Nutella, plus extra for tops
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 375.
Add butter and sugars to bowl of mixer and cream together. Add eggs, Nutella, and extracts. Mix until completely combined, scraping down the edges.
Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Mix until just barely combined. Stir in chocolate chips.
Spoon cookie dough on cookie sheets. Press down lightly on each cookie to slightly flatten.
Bake for 8-10 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool. Spread Nutella over the tops. Enjoy!
