Cream Sugar Cookies

Updated: May 12, 2021

Soft sugar cookies with just the right amount of sweetness. Soft and delicious. Definitely worth taking the time to make.
Cream Sugar Cookies

Last week for home evening we decorated sugar cookies. Not fancy decorating, just simple frosting and sprinkles. I didn’t have it in me to try to make them fancy. But I did have it in me to make sure they were good cookies. That’s where my roommate stepped in. She has a delicious recipe for sugar cookies from her aunt. These cookies, plus homemade frosting made the perfect pair. Which is good because we made around 150 cookies for people to frost and decorate. (The recipe makes about 5-6 dozen.) As much as I liked this recipe, I am really glad not to have the leftovers sitting around. I ate so many cookies last week. So maybe if you make this recipe, be prepared to share cookies with other people. Or just cut the recipe in half.

1/2 cup butter

1 1/3 cup sugar

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 tablespoon vanilla

1 cup cream

2 eggs

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoons baking soda

2 teaspoons baking powder

4 1/2 cups flour

Cream together butter and sugar. Add lemon juice, vanilla, eggs and cream. Beat until incorporated. Add remaining ingredients and beat until everything is incorporated. Be sure to scrape down sides. Refrigerate for at least one hour. Roll out dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut with cookie cutters. Bake at 450 for 5-7 minutes.
